Heather Bergeson: Reporter: "To some, writing can seem like a mystical skill that you're either born with or not, but the truth is that no one gets it perfect on the first draft.

Emily Anderson: Teacher:  "It's important to show students how messy the writing process can be.  Rather than focusing on a polished final draft, focusing on teaching the writing process can help students see themselves as writers."

These photos ignited the fire to learn more about this pioneer who lived into my lifetime.  Her name is Josie Bassett.  I was in my late teens and lived with  the modern conveniences of the day.  a newspaper article printed her photo, and told about how she had lived for thirty years in this cabin with no running water or electricity.  I was astounded.

I had to find out more about her and I still discover new tidbits to this day.  I've been compelled to write a screenplay about her and the whole Bassett clan.  In my mind, I saw their story on the screen and I'd love to create the opportunity for others to  see it that way too.

Browns Park and Cub Creek don't look much different than they did then.   I've seen the ranch, her cabin, and the family cemetery.  Their story is real to me.  It's always  fascinating.  The Bassett's were at the "heart" of their community, and their brand  marked everyone who knew them.
